[project2501] reborn!

A few months ago I had a live distribution based around the XMonad window manager that I built using the larch creation scripts. After the depreciation of AUFS from the Arch Linux kernel, it made it much harder to use these scripts, as they relied on the AUFS file system. This required installing a custom kernel, etc., which was, to be honest, just a pain in the ass. Needless to say my lazy ass said ‘Fuck that’ and thus, [project2501] died. »Read More

Guild Wars 2 Beta Weekend Event

Had the opportunity to participate in the Guild Wars 2 beta weekend event this past weekend. For those of you who don’t know, I am no stranger to MMO’s, having high level characters in World of Warcraft, EVE Online, and Rift; and having some play experience with others like Star Wars: The Old Republic, Lord of the Rings Online, Dungeons and Dragons Online, Warhammer and various others. I tend to enjoy the MMO genre as a whole, but also tend to be a ‘lone ranger’ most of the time, only grouping up when I need to for dungeons or dangerous mission running. I do PvP, but generally only in Rift and EVE; so I can only talk from experiences PvP’ing in those games. Enough history … time for my thoughts on Guild Wars 2. »Read More

Macross Frontier

So when I saw that there was another Macross series, I jumped on it as quick as I could (which was obviously about 4 years late lol). »Read More

Cups and Windows 7 without SAMBA

Unfortunately I can’t use Linux everywhere, and work is one of those examples. My work laptop dual boots, but it has to be in Windows 7 most of the time sadly. This makes sharing the printer a tad bit more complicated, and everything I saw told me I had to use SAMBA to share a CUPS printer. Why? Isn’t CUPS a server? Finally after searching around I found a solution that worked, so I wanted to share it. FYI, this all assumes you already have CUPS up and running.

It’s actually pretty easy, but uses the registery editor in Windows 7 so be careful! »Read More
